Hospital Board Notes


The update on the clinic project and the change orders were items for the Norton County Hospital Board of Trustees Wednesday night.  Randy Lenicke from the Murray Company and maintenance supervisor Ty Bruton took the board on a walk through of the clinic project.  They are about 80 PERCENT complete with a completion day of mid april.  They will be working on the canopy next week.  Upcoming projects will be casework, painting and the ceilings.  The board approved five change orders for the project .  The total cost is 10,398.  The project is coming in under budget for the construction.  Also Wednesday night respiratory therapy supervisor Paul Gosselin demonstrated new equipment for his department. The board reviewed the drawings for the mammography area for the new digital equipment that is larger than the old one.  THE EQUIPMENT IS SCHEDULED TO BE INSTALLED IN MID MARCH.  The detailed drawings for the clinic to allow for the nursing school were presented and reviewed.  The board held a general discussion on the upgrades to the information technology network.  They have received one bid from a company and are looking for a couple local bids.  the Kansas Department of Health and Environment inspected the hospital in late January.  There were a couple of minor defencies and the plan of correction was approved by the KDHE.  The quality council reports from pharmacy, OB, nursing and dietary were approved.  EACH DEPARTMENT HAS COMPLETED A YEAR IN REVIEW.  HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR RICH MILLER WILL SUMMARIZE THE REPORTS AND PRESENT THEM AT THE MARCH MEETING.  THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM BY DOCTOR MARTY GRIFFEY WAS WELL RECEIVED AND ATTENDED.  THEY PLAN TO HOLD MORE OF THEM PERIODICALLY.  THE PERSONNEL MATTERS WERE UPDATED AND THE JANUARY PATIENT SURVEY SUMMARIES PRESENTED.  THE BILLS WERE APPROVED AND THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS REVIEWED.  THE WRITTEN OFF ACCOUNTS IN THE AMOUNT OF 49,662.65 WERE APPROVED TO BE WRITTEN OFF THE BOOKS AND SENT TO THE COLLECTION AGENCY.  THE BOARD HELD A GENERAL DISCUSSION ON COLLECTION PROCEDURES FOR THE HOSPITAL.  THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NORTON COUNTY HOSPITAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES WILL BE WEDNESDAY MARCH 16TH AT 6:30 IN THE BOARD ROOM OF THE HOSPITAL.  ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
