Beef Workshop

 

K-State Research and Extension’s Twin Creeks District is sponsoring a workshop to update beef producers on the practical use of beef selection tools.   Dr. Sandy Johnson, K-State Research and Extension Livestock Specialist at the Northwest Research and Extension Center will be the featured speaker.  The meeting will be held at the Methodist Educational Building, in Norcatur Kansas, Tuesday March 1st from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Check in and donuts will be served at 9:30.  Technology is changing many aspects of our lives, including the way cattle is selected.  Topics will include a review and update on Expected Progeny Differences (EPD), a look at breed trait averages, genetic trends over time, example selection scenario’s and bull selection on the hoof.  Although there is no cost call either the Decatur County Office at 785-475-8121 or the Norton County Office at 785-877-5755 by February 28th, so they can plan for the meeting. 10 people are required to be able to hold the meeting.  The workshop on beef selection tools will be Tuesday March first in the methodist church in norcatur, sponsored by the Twin Creeks Extension District.
