More than 180 people were in Dodge City yesterday to hear Governor Brownback and Secretary Deb Miller announced the T-WORKS modernization and expansion projects for western Kansas. You can view those projects here: www.ksdot.org/t-works
Dodge City Highlights:
Participants were greeted by the Marshall and Miss Kitty and a few desperadoes that looked like trouble though no gunfights broke out; instead we got smiles and applause as projects were announced. Given that we were in Dodge City it was no surprise that the biggest applause followed the announcement of the US 50 project the four-lane between Dodge and Cimarron, but the creativity award goes to the US-383 supporters. When their project was announced, it was greeted with signs and noise makers. Due to the strong winds, the announcements had to move inside for today’s event but no one seemed to mind as we were at the new United Wireless Arena and it is beautiful. The projects announced yesterday represent only about 20 percent of T-WORKS total funding. Much more preservation, transit, aviation and rail work will be completed in this area over the next 10 years. Thanks to all of you who participated in T-WORKS discussions over the last several years to help make yesterday’s announcement come to fruition.
