The projects from 360 Energy Solutions and the handbooks for the next school year were items for the USD 211 Norton Board of Education yesterday morning. Joe Hurla from 360 Energy presented the bids received for the various projects throughout the district including boiler work, lighting and heating control work. Projections for all the projects was set at 1.1 million dollars. The bids were opened last week and they came in 84 thousand dollars below projections. The board accepted the bids received for a total of one million 35 thousand 922 dollars. They also accepted the financing proposal submitted from The Bank to finance the projects for an interest rate of 4.75 per cent. The next step will be to issue subcontracts and that is planned to be done next week. Substantial completion is expected by November first. Also yesterday, the board received the handbooks for all three schools as well as the classified and board handbooks with changes. For the board the changes includes a new non-discrimination policy, removing a policy with providing salary information and dealing with alternate credits. it will state that students must retake a course in high school that they previously failed before attending the learning center. the board will study the changes and act on them at the July 11th meeting. The board approved the treasurer paying the year end bills and that the superintendent, board clerk and treasurer be allowed to use contingency reserve funds if needed. The next meeting of the USD 211 Norton Board of Education will be Monday July 11th at 7:30 in the board room of the Unified Office. All meetings are open to the public.
