Rooks County Sheriff, Randy Axelson was arrested last Friday on probable cause of methamphetamine distribution. Sheriff Axelson was arrested by agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation following an investigation into the alleged drug distribution conducted by KBI Agents, Rooks County Sheriff Deputies, Stockton Police Department Officers and Plainville Police Department Officers. Rooks County Attorney Ed Hageman made the official request for the KBI investigation on Tuesday, December 27th. Hageman also appointed Ellis County Attorney Thomas J. Drees to serve as the Special Prosecutor regarding this investigation. 23rd Judicial District Chief Judge Edward E. Bouker has found probable cause for the arrest. Axelson was released yesterday on a 45 thousand dollar bond. Keep in mind that the arrest and/or charging of an individual is merely an allegation of criminal wrong doing. All persons maintain a presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
