Girl Scout entrepreneurs will be out and about in uniform beginning Saturday selling your favorite cookies: Thin Mints; Caramel deLites; Peanut Butter Patties; Thanks-A-Lots; Peanut Butter Sandwiches; Lemonades; Shout Outs and Shortbreads. This sweet tradition also marks the beginning of Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary celebrations in Kansas. Girl Scout Cookies are available for $3.50 per box and all of the proceeds support Girl Scouting in local communities. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country and for many, it is their first entrepreneurial venture. Through participating in the cookie program, girls develop five essential skills: GOAL SETTING, DECISION MAKING, MONEY MANAGEMENT, PEOPLE SKILLS AND BUSINESS ETHICS. Girl Scout Cookies are only sold for six short weeks every year, but the benefits for girls last throughout their entire lives. NEW for the 2012 Girl Scout Cookie Sale– Shortbreads will be available in specially-designed 100th Anniversary packaging highlighting the Girl Scouts of today and yesterday. All cookie packages will include a seasonally focused “Use or Freeze By” date. This packaging addition will help ensure consumers’ confidence that their Girl Scout Cookies are fresh.
