The tour of the second floor of the Hospital and the newest board member were items for the Norton County Hospital Board of Trustees at their meeting Wednesday night. Jean Ann Wilson, the director of the Colby Community College Nursing program gave a tour of the area that the College has been using for years. They will be moving to their new space this spring. The board also toured the surgery/recovery area on second floor. It is the only area of the hospital that has not been renovated. The board then looked at a proposal from Health Facilities Group to do a planning study of the area to see what options are available. They will take about 90 days to complete the study at a cost of 8 thousand dollars. The board welcomed Diane Edgett as the newest board member for a FOUR-YEAR term. Shad Chandler was re-appointed to another FOUR-YEAR term. They will join VON FAHRENBRUCH, STEVE BERRY, REVA BENIEN, RITA SPEER, AND WARREN WHITE. THE BOARD APPROVED THE 2012 SALARY SCHEDULED AS PRESENTED. THE LAST SALARY ADJUSTMENT WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2010. CFO RYAN STOVER UPDATED THE BOARD ON THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. THEY ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH THE ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS. ICE TECHNOLOGY IS DONE WITH THEIR PART. THE HOSPITAL WILL ALSO BE PARTICIPATING IN A PROGRAM that COULD RESULT IN ARRA MONEY BEING RETURNED TO THE HOSPITAL. The HOSPITAL WILL BE WORKING WITH 10 OTHER HOSPITALS TO DO A COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSESSMENT. IN ORDER TO KEEP THE NON-PROFIT STATUS, THE HOSPITAL HAS TO HAVE THE ASSESSMENT DONE AND FILED BY JUNE OF 2013. THE CONSULTING FIRM OF VVV. RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT OF KANSAS CITY WILL DO THE WORK. THIS ASSESSMENT WILL GAUGE THE COMMUNITY TO SEE IF THE HOSPITAL IS PROVIDING THE SERVICES THAT ARE NEEDED IN THE AREA. DOCTOR MARTIN GRIFFEY WILL BE DOING ANOTHER COMMUNITY HEALTH MEETING DEALING WITH CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE JANUARY 30TH AT PRAIRIE LAND ELECTRIC. THE NORTON HOSPITAL WILL BE PART OF A BREAST CANCER AWARENESS PROJECT CONDUCTED BY DOCTOR ANN O’DAY AN ONCOLOGIST AND HEMATOLOGIST FROM THE HAYS MEDICAL CENTER. THE 2012 DESIGNATIONS WERE MADE WITH the FIVE NORTON COUNTY BANKS THE OFFICIAL DEPOSITORIES, KQNK THE OFFICIAL RADIO STATION AND THE NORTON TELEGRAM AS THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION. JOHN MCCLYMONT WILL BE THE LEGAL COUNSEL. THE BILLS WERE APPROVED AND THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS REVIEWED. THE DECEMBER WRITE-OFFS in the AMOUNT OF 53,388.40 AND JANUARY WRITE-OFFS FOR 52,364.59 WERE APPROVED TO BE SENT TO the COLLECTION AGENCY. THE PERSONNEL REPORT AND PATIENT SURVEY SUMMARY WERE PRESENTED. The BOARD ALSO HELD AN EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR NON-ELECTED PERSONNEL. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NORTON COUNTY HOSPITAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES WILL BE WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 15TH AT 6:30 IN THE BOARD ROOM OF THE HOSPITAL. ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
