Airport Board Notes

THE CONTRACT FOR THE RUNWAY REPAIR AND A REQUEST WERE ITEMS FOR THE NORTON CITY COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD MONDAY NIGHT.  THE BOARD ATTORNEY REVIEWED THE CONTRACT WITH THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ON THEIR PORTION OF THE 90/10 MATCH FOR THE REPAIR OF THE CONCRETE PANELS AT THE NORTH END OF THE RUNWAY.  THE BOARD APPROVED THE CONTRACT.  THEY ALSO RECEIVED A REQUEST FROM the NORTON CLASSIC CRUISERS TO USE THE RUNWAY FOR THE CAR SHOW JULY 14TH FROM FOUR TILL 6:30.  THE LAND LEASE WITH MARVIN STUTHEIT HAS BEEN SIGNED BY HIM WITH THE CHANGES OF THE LAND SOUTH OF THE TREES WILL BE THE AIRPORT’S RESPONSIBILITY.  HE ALSO PAID HIS YEARLY RENT.  THE BOARD WILL VISIT WITH THE FARM SERVICE AGENCY ON THE WORK THAT WILL BE DONE TO IMPROVE THE TERRACES.  THE COUNTY HAS A TERRACING MACHINE AND THE CITY WILL PROVIDE LABOR AND EQUIPMENT.  THE COUNTY COMMISSION WILL BE ASKED TO PROVIDE THE TERRACING MACHINE AND SOME MANPOWER.  THE BOARD WILL BE MEETING A HALF HOUR EARLIER NEXT MONTH TO GO OVER THE BIDS THAT WILL BE COMING IN FOR THE LIGHTING PROJECT.  THE BOARD DECIDED TO GO TO THE LOCAL BANKING INSTITUTIONS ABOUT LEASE PURCHASE FOR THE SELF-SERVE FUELING STATION TO BE AT THE AIRPORT.  THEY ARE LOOKING AT A SYSTEM WITH A 5000 GALLON AV GAS TANK AND A 10 THOUSAND GALLON JET FUEL TANK.  THE BOARD ASKED TO GET IN WRITING THAT THE LEASE WITH THE NATOMA CORPORATION CAN BE TRANSFERRED UPON THE SALE OF THE HANGER.  THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NORTON CITY COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD WILL BE MONDAY MARCH 12TH AT FIVE IN THE AIRPORT OFFICE.   ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
