KHP Accident

THREE NORTON WOMEN WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A CAR-SEMI ACCIDENT FRIDAY NORTH OF WICHITA.  A 2003 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS DRIVEN BY CAROL WOODMANSEE OF NORTON WAS SOUTHBOUND ON I-135.  THE OTHER TWO VEHICLES WERE NORTHBOUND.  THE MERCURY LEFT THE ROADWAY IN THE SOUTHBOUND LANES, OVER CORRECTED AND WENT THROUGH THE MEDIAN AND COLLIDED WITH A 2002 FREIGHTLINER SEMI, DRIVEN BY JAMES RICH OF WICHITA.  A 2001 BUICK CENTURY, DRIVEN BY MELISSA FUNK OF FLORENCE KANSAS HIT THE DEBRIS FROM THE ACCIDENT.  WOODMANSEE, HER DAUGHTER C.J. AND MARY MANN WERE ALL TAKEN TO ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL IN WICHITA.  CAROL WOODMANSEE PASSED AWAY SATURDAY NIGHT OF HER INJURIES.  ALL THREE DRIVERS WERE WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS AS WELL AS MANN, BUT C.J. WOODMANSEE WAS NOT.   THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 8:56 FRIDAY MORNING 18 MILES NORTH OF PARK CITY ON I-135, ACCORDING TO THE KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL.
