AN UPDATE ON THE WATER PLANT RENOVATION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS HIGHLIGHTED THE AGENDA FOR THE NORTON CITY COUNCIL LAST NIGHT.  GREG WARNER FROM MILLER AND ASSOCIATES PRESENTED AN UPDATE ON THE RENOVATIONS.  THEY ARE MORE THAN 75 PER CENT COMPLETE.  THEY DID GET AN EXTENSION TO APRIL 20TH, BUT MAY NEED ANOTHER ONE DUE TO EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS NOT BEING DELIVERED.  THEY ARE WAITING ON THE FIBERGLASS COVER FOR THE CLARIFIER FOR ONE.  MANY OF THE SMALL JOBS HAVE BEEN DONE.  THE ELEVATOR REHAB IS DONE.  ALSO, CITY ADMINISTRATOR ROB LAWSON COMMENDED THE CITY CREWS FOR CLEANING UP AREAS AROUND THE POWER PLANT, WATER PLANT AND IN OTHER AREAS OF THE CITY.   HE MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF DIAMOND SHAMROCK ABOUT THE STREET TO THE EAST OF THEIR PROPERTY.  THEY ARE WILLING TO ALLOW FOR WIDENING OF THE STREET AND UP TO 50 FEET OF THEIR PROPERTY.  THE CITY WOULD PUT IN A TUBE AND THEN COVER IT.  ANOTHER LANDOWNER IS WILLING TO HELP AND PAY PART OF THE EXPENSES.  LAWSON WILL HAVE PENCO ENGINEERING DO AN ELEVATION STUDY.  THE COUNCIL APPROVED ALLOWING CEREAL MALT BEVERAGES FOR THE NEPRA DURING THEIR SANCTIONED RACES ON THE DATES PRESENTED IN THE APPLICATION WITH ROBERTA RYAN VOTING NO.   THEY ALSO APPROVED THE BEER GARDEN FOR THE NEPRA DURING RACES.  THE ORDINANCE INCREASE THE SPAY AND NEUTER FEE FOR DOG ADOPTIONS AT THE NORTON ANIMAL SHELTER FROM 25 DOLLARS TO 100 DOLLARS WAS ADOPTED.  THE ORDINANCE TO REMOVE THE NO PARKING ON A SECTION OF MADISON STREET SOUTH OF BELLA SOLE WAS ADOPTED.  THE OPEN CLASS HORSE SHOW DATE WAS MOVED FROM JULY 21ST TO JULY 14TH.  THE SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT REQUEST FROM DAN SISK FOR 25 FEET OF SIDEWALK WAS APPROVED.  THE TRAVEL AND TOURISM COMMITTEE MET TUESDAY AND APPROVED A DONATION TO THE WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE AND ALSO ADVERTISING IN DIFFERENT PUBLICATIONS.  THE FINANCE COMMITTEE WILL BE MEETING APRIL 2ND AT FIVE TO DISCUSS THE CHARTER ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE MEMBERSHIP ON THE TRAVEL AND TOURISM COMMITTEE.  THE MEETING WILL BE HELD IN CITY HALL AND ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
