Norton County Hospital Board Notes

THE UPDATE ON THE UPPER LEVEL RENOVATION AND THE ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS WERE ITEMS FOR THE NORTON COUNTY HOSPITAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES WEDNESDAY NIGHT.  HEALTH FACILITIES GROUP, AN ARCHITECTURAL FIRM, IS DOING A PLANNING STUDY ON THE UPPER LEVEL FOR WHEN COLBY COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S NURSING PROGRAM MOVES TO THEIR NEW BUILDING.  THEY HAVE DRAWN UP SOME PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR THE AREA.  THE BOARD WANTS A CONSTRUCTION MANAGER TO WORK WITH THE ARCHITECTS ON THE RENOVATION.  THEY ALSO ADDRESSED THE FINANCING OPTIONS FOR THE RENOVATION.  IN OTHER BUSINESS, CFO RYAN STOVER UPDATED THE BOARD ON THE CHANGE OVER TO ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS.  WITHIN THE NEXT 60 DAYS, THEY WILL BE TESTING THE FIRST STAGE OF MEANINGFUL USE.  THEY ALSO REVIEWED SOME NEW SOFTWARE FROM CENTRIQ THAT WILL BE BROUGHT BACK TO THE BOARD FOR PURCHASE AT A LATER DATE.  THE BOARD REVIEWED A PROPOSAL PRESENTED BY ALICE HAWKS FROM THE DIETARY DEPARTMENT.  THEY APPROVED THE PURCHASE OF A KITCHEN RANGE FROM CENTRAL RESTAURANT FOR 4441 DOLLARS.  IT WAS IN THE BUDGET.  THE BOARD RECEIVED A DEMONSTRATION ON THE NEW SECURITY SYSTEM THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE HOSPITAL BY NEX-TECH.  IT HAS SECURITY FOR ALL PATIENT ROOMS, THE ENTRANCE AND THE EXITS 24 HOURS PER DAY.  THE SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED IN THE MEDICAL CLINIC DURING THE RENOVATION.  THE MEDICAL STAFF APPROVED FOUR APPLICATIONS FOR PRIVILEGES.  THEY WERE FOR DOCTOR BRENT ADAMSON AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON FROM KEARNEY, P.A. PAUL MEUTING THAT ASSISTS DOCTOR ADAMSON, DOCTORS WAYNE KISHIMOTO AND MICHAEL NGUYEN FROM THE GREAT PLAINS RADIOLOGY.  THE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT SUMMARIES FROM HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, DISCHARGE PLANNING/SOCIAL SERVICES AND HUMAN RESOURCES WERE PRESENTED.  THE CONFIDENTIAL FOURTH QUARTER RISK MANAGEMENT REPORT WAS ACCEPTED AFTER AN EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR 2011.  THE MURRAY COMPANY RETURNED 792 DOLLARS TO THE HOSPITAL FOR THE CLINIC PROJECT.  THAT ADDITION WAS FINISHED AND COST 174,882 DOLLARS LESS THAN ORIGINALLY BID.  THE BOARD IS WATCHING THE CONCEALED CARRY BILL THAT IS BEING DEBATED IN THE KANSAS LEGISLATURE.  COO RICH MILLER UPDATED THE BOARD ON THE HEALTH CARE FOR THE STATE.  THE COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS ASSESSMENT SHOULD BE DONE BY THE END OF MAY.  IT IS DUE IN JUNE OF 2013.  THE CLINIC 11-MONTH CHECK UP WAS DONE BEFORE 12 MONTH WARRANTY IS UP.  THE FEBRUARY PATIENT SURVEY SUMMARIES AND THE PERSONNEL REPORTS WERE PRESENTED.  THE BILLS WERE APPROVED AND THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS REVIEWED.  THE WRITTEN OFF ACCOUNTS IN THE AMOUNT OF 61,640 DOLLARS WAS APPROVED TO BE SENT TO THE COLLECTION AGENCY.  THE NEXT MEETING OF THE NORTON COUNTY HOSPITAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES WILL BE WEDNESDAY APRIL 18TH AT 6:30 IN THE BOARD ROOM OF THE HOSPITAL.   ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
