Rossi Recommendation

GEORGE ROSSI, CURRENT ASSISTANT COACH OF THE LADY JAYS BASKETBALL TEAM WILL BE RECOMMENDED TO THE USD 211 NORTON BOARD OF EDUCATION AT THEIR NEXT MEETING TO BE NEXT NCHS HEAD GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH. IN MAKING THE RECOMMENDATION, THE ADMINISTRATION FEELS THAT HAVING BEEN KEVIN JILKA’S ASSISTANT FOR THE PAST 22 YEARS THEY BELIEVE HIM TO BE MORE THAN READY FOR THIS RESPONSIBILITY AND HE UNDERSTANDS AND APPRECIATES THE GREAT TRADITION ASSOCIATED WITH NORTON LADY JAYS BASKETBALL.  THEY BELIEVE ROSSI WILL CONTINUE THAT TRADITION AND WILL FIELD TEAMS THAT ARE DISCIPLINED AND COMPETITIVE.  ROSSI HAS BEEN EMPLOYED IN USD 211 SINCE THE FALL OF 1988 AS THE JUNIOR HIGH SCIENCE TEACHER.  DURING HIS TIME IN NORTON ROSSI HAS BEEN AN ASSISTANT JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL COACH, ASSISTANT JUNIOR FOOTBALL COACH, AN ASSISTANT JUNIOR HIGH TRACK COACH AND HEAD JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL COACH.  BEGINNING WITH THE 2009 SEASON ROSSI HAS SERVED AS THE HEAD NCHS CROSS COUNTRY COACH WHERE HIS TEAMS HAVE EARNED STATE TROPHIES IN EACH OF HIS THREE YEARS AS HEAD COACH, INCLUDING A GIRLS STATE 3A CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2010.  THE VACANCY WAS CREATED DUE TO THE RESIGNATION OF LONG TIME HEAD LADY JAYS COACH KEVIN JILKA WHO HAD COACHED THE LADY JAYS FOR 30 SEASONS.  MR. JILKA WILL CONTINUE TO TEACH AT NCHS AND WILL AGAIN BE THE HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH FOR THE UPCOMING 2012 SEASON.  A PUBLIC RECOGNITION OF MR. JILKA’S DEDICATION AND SUCCESS TENURE AS THE LADY JAYS BASKETBALL COACH IS BEING PLANNED FOR THE 2012-13 BASKETBALL SEASON.
