New Reservation System

TOMORROW AT 12:01 AM, THE NEW OUTDOOR RECREATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ORMS) FOR CAMPING AND CABIN RESERVATIONS WILL TAKE EFFECT FOR ALL KANSAS STATE PARKS.  THIS SYSTEM WILL ALLOW USERS TO MAKE RESERVATIONS FROM THEIR HOME COMPUTER AND TO CHECK SITE AVAILABILITY.  IT WILL ALSO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF RESERVABLE SITES AT PRAIRIE DOG STATE PARK FROM TEN TO SIXTY-FIVE.  ALL NON-DESIGNATED SITES AND SHADY REST CAMPGROUND SITES S1-S21 WILL REMAIN FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVE.  ORMS SITES HAVE BEEN MARKED WITH NEW POSTS AND PERMIT HOLDERS.  BASICALLY, IF A RED “R” IS SHOWING, THE SITE IS RESERVED AND NOT AVAILABLE.  FOR SITES NOT RESERVED, A ONE-DAY OR TWO DAY CARD WILL BE IN THE HOLDER WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO OCCUPY THE SITE.  IN ADDITION, ALL SELF-PAYS WILL BECOME A ONE-DAY PERMIT WITH THE PATRON NEEDING TO COME TO THE OFFICE FOR A LONGER STAY.  RESERVATIONS MADE ONLINE OR BY PHONE MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY CREDIT CARD AT THE TIME OF THE RESERVATION.  RESERVATIONS MADE IN PERSON MAY BE PAID FOR WITH CASH OR CREDIT CARD.  TO ENSURE A CAMPSITE DURING PEAK SEASON, CAMPERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE OF THEIR TRIP.  THE RESERVATION SITE IS WWW.KSOUTDOORS.COM.  RESERVATIONS CAN BE MADE IN PERSON OR BY CALLING ANY KDWPT OFFICE.  THE PRAIRIE DOG STATE PARK OFFICE NUMBER IS (785)877-2953.
