National Work Zone Awareness

KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION WORKERS ACROSS THE STATE HAVE BEEN SPORTING ORANGE RIBBONS IN HONOR OF NATIONAL WORK ZONE AWARENESS WEEK.  WHEN DRIVING, WE NEED TO REMEMBER TO STAY ALERT AND PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE ROADWAY.  SIGNS AND WORK ZONE FLAGGERS SAVE LIVES.  TURN ON YOUR HEADLIGHT SO WORKERS AND OTHER MOTORISTS CAN SEE YOU.  DON’T SPEED OR TAILGATE.  KEEP UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC.  DON’T CHANGE LANES IN WORK ZONES.  MINIMIZE DISTRACTIONS BY NOT USING CELL PHONES, DON’T EAT OR REACH FOR ITEMS WHILE DRIVING.  EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED.  BE PATIENT.  AND MOST IMPORTANTLY STAY ALERT.  PLEASE USE CAUTION, PAY ATTENTION TO THE WORK ZONE SIGNS, AND RESPECT WORKERS WHEN DRIVING THROUGH ANY ROAD CONSTRUCTION ZONE. SLOW DOWN AND “GIVE ‘EM A BREAK”.  WORK ZONES ARE ESSENTIAL TO BUILDING SAFER, SMOOTHER,  IMPROVED ROADS THAT MAY ULTIMATELY SAVE LIVES.
