Norton County Commissioners Notes

THE MEETING BETWEEN THE NORTON COUNTY HOSPITAL AND EMS WAS THE MAJOR AGENDA ITEM FOR THE NORTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AT THEIR MEETING MONDAY.  REPRESENTATIVES OF THE HOSPITAL BOARD AND EMS EMPLOYEES WERE ON HAND TO ADDRESS THE TRANSFER OF A PATIENT.  DOCTOR MARTY GRIFFEY WAS ALSO PRESENT AT THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR.  HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR RICH MILLER ADDRESSED THE SPECIFIC TRANSFER THAT THEY FELT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TRANSFER TO A MEDICAL FACILITY WITH A COMBATIVE PATIENT.  THE EMS DID NOT TAKE THE TRANSFER DUE TO THE SAFETY OF THEIR STAFF.  GRIFFEY FELT THE BEST WAY TO RESOLVE ANY CONFLICT AND CURRENT QUESTIONS BETWEEN EACH DEPARTMENT AND FACILITY WAS TO HAVE THE DIRECTOR OF NURSING AT THE HOSPITAL JENNIFER WILDEMAN AND EMS DIRECTOR JANE WYATT AS WELL AS GRIFFEY TO GET TOGETHER AND DISCUSS OPERATIONS REGULARLY.  MEDICAL RECORDS WITH THE TRANSFER OF PATIENTS WAS ALSO ADDRESSED ALONG WITH THE NECESSITY OF THOSE RECORDS TO GO WITH THE PATIENT DURING A TRANSFER.  GRIFFEY THOUGHT THAT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF, BUT WOULD CHECK INTO THE PROGRESS AGAIN.  HE FEELS HE AND WYATT SHOULD WORK ON A COVER SHEET THAT WOULD BE WITH EACH PATIENT AND WOULD BE USED AS A CHECK FOR SUPPORTING PAPERWORK ON EACH TRANSFER.  JOINT TRAINING WITH THE STAFF AGENCIES WAS ALSO FELT TO BE A GOOD IDEA.  GRIFFEY FEELS THAT A MONTHLY MEETING WITH EMS AND HIMSELF WOULD BE ANOTHER OPTION AND HE IS WILLING TO DO THAT TO HELP BOTH ENTITIES.  THE COMMISSION ALSO PLACED A BURN BAN IN EFFECT FOR THE COUNTY AS OF MONDAY.  IN OTHER BUSINESS WYATT REPORTED THAT THE EMS IS TO HAVE OPERATION POLICIES IN PLACE AND IS REVIEWED ANNUALLY BY THE COUNTY ATTORNEY AND COMMISSION.  SOLID WASTE SUPERVISOR CURT ARCHIBALD REPORTED AS OF MONDAY MOST OF THE DEMOLITION FOR THE DAIRY QUEEN WAS TAKEN TO THE LANDFILL.  THE LAST WAS TO BE DELIVERED MONDAY.  THE CAT COMPACTOR DEVELOPED A TRANSMISSION LEAK.  THE MACHINE WAS SHUT DOWN AND WAS NOT BEING USED UNTIL A MECHANIC COULD INSPECT IT.  COMMISSION JOHN MILLER SUGGESTED THAT ARCHIBALD PLACE A LADDER ON THE DUMP TRUCK THAT IS USED TO HAUL TRASH.  IT IS NECESSARY TO MAKE THE ACCESS EASIER FOR THE EMPLOYEE AND POSSIBLY PRESENT AN INJURY.  COUNTY TREASURER CINDY LINNER REPORTED DUE TO SHORT STAFF AND TRAINING IN WICHITA, HER OFFICE WOULD BE CLOSED THROUGH TODAY.  THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS, THE COMMISSIONERS ADJOURNED MONDAY.  THESE MINUTES ARE NOT OFFICIAL UNTIL SIGNED AND APPROVED BY THE NORTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AT THEIR NEXT REGULAR MEETING MONDAY.  ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
