Two Vehicle Accident

TWO NORTON COUNTY MEN ESCAPED INJURY IN A TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.  A 1998 INTERNATIONAL SEMI, DRIVEN BY JAMES GOEKEN OF LENORA WAS SOUTHBOUND ON COUNTY ROAD W-4.  A 1962 CAT GRADER, DRIVEN BY JAMES SHOWERS OF EDMOND WAS NORTHBOUND AND DROVE INTO THE DITCH TO AVOID THE SEMI.  SOMETHING CAUGHT THE FRONT WHEEL FO THE GRADER TURING IT TOWARDS THE ROAD.  THE GRADER CAME UP OUT OF THE DITCH AND STRUCK THE SEMI CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES.  SHOWERS STATED THE FRONT TIRE JUST SUDDENLY TURNED INTO THE ROADWAY.  DAMAGE WAS OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS.  GOEKEN WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT BUT IT IS UNKNOWN IF SHOWERS WAS.  THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 1:38 WEDNESDAY ON COUNTY ROAD W-4 JUST OFF HIGHWAY NINE, ACCORDING TO THE REPORT FROM THE NORTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
