School Board Notes

THE BIDS FOR TWO PROJECTS AND THE SALARIES FOR STAFF WERE ITEMS FOR THE USD 211 NORTON BOARD OF EDUCATION AT THEIR YEAR END MEETING FRIDAY MORNING.  360 ENERGY SOLUTIONS PRESENTED BIDS FOR THE VENTILATION UPGRADES AT THE EISENHOWER GYM AND THE HIGH SCHOOL VO AG SHOP.  THE BOARD DIRECTED 360 ENERGY TO ACCEPT THE LOW BID FROM GARRETT PLUMING, HEATING AND ELECTRIC FOR BOTH PROJECTS AT A COST OF 64,840 DOLLARS.  THE BOARD APPROVED THE CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE PARENTS AS TEACHERS PROGRAM FOR THE 2012-13 SCHOOL YEAR AT A COST OF 1,143.49.  THAT COST WAS HELPED BY STATE FUNDING AND ALSO A GRANT FROM THE HANSEN FOUNDATION.  IF 100 PER CENT OF THE DISTRICTS DO NOT PARTICIPATE, THE PROGRAM WILL NOT BE RUN FOR THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.  THE BOARD APPROVED CONTACTING A THIRD ARCHITECT TO MAKE A PRESENTATION TO THE BOARD IN STRAIT ARCHITECTURE ASSOCIATES OF COLBY.  THE BOARD APPROVED INCREASING THE CLASSIFIED WAGES AND RETURNING ADMINISTRATOR SALARIES BY 3.85 PER CENT.  THEY APPROVED THE LETTER OF INTENT WITH LIBBY NICKELSON AS A FIRST GRADE TEACHER.  THE BOARD ACCEPTED WITH THANKS FOR HER YEARS OF SERVICE THE RESIGNATION OF KERI VANOVER AS THE HIGH SCHOOL CUSTODIAN.  THEY APPROVED THE CONTRACT WITH MINDY UNTERSEHER AS THE HIGH SCHOOL SECRETARY.  THE BOARD APPROVED RATIFYING THE CONTRACTS WITH CERTIFIED STAFF AS PRESENTED.  THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE USD 211 NORTON BOARD OF EDUCATION WILL BE THE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING ON MONDAY JULY 9TH AT 7:30.  THEY WILL ALSO HOLD A SPECIAL MEETING ON JULY 23RD TO GO OVER THE BUDGET.  ALL MEETINGS ARE HELD IN THE BOARD ROOM OF THE UNIFIED OFFICE AND ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
