THE BURN BAN FOR THE CITY OF NORTON WAS THE AGENDA ITEM FOR THE NORTON CITY COUNCIL IN A SPECIAL MEETING LAST NIGHT.  LAST WEDNESDAY MAYOR DAVID CORNS SIGNED A BURN BAN IN THE CITY LIMITS OF NORTON PROHIBITING OPEN BURNING AND THE DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS.  THAT BAN WAS ONLY IN EFFECT FOR SEVEN DAYS AND THEN HAD TO BE LIFTED OR EXTENDED.  LAST NIGHT THE COUNCIL EXTENDED THE BURN BAN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE UNTIL THERE IS MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION.  THIS BAN INCLUDES OPEN BURNING AND THE DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS.  GRILLING IS ALLOWED, BUT GRILLERS ARE URGED TO HAVE FIRE SUPPRESSION METHODS CLOSE AT HAND WHEN GRILLING.  THIS BAN CAN BE LIFTED AT ANY TIME BY THE NORTON CITY COUNCIL.
