Head Start Office Fire

THE NORTON CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE AT THE SCENE OF A STRUCTURE FIRE FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS EARLY THIS MORNING IN DOWNTOWN NORTON.  THE FIRE CALL CAME IN A 3:15 OF A FIRE AT 107 NORTH KANSAS AT THE HOME BASED HEAD START BUILDING.  THE DAMAGE WAS CONTAINED TO THE NORTH PART OF THE OFFICE, BUT THERE WAS SOME LIGHT SMOKE THAT SEEPED INTO THE FIRST SECURITY BANK.  THE FIRE CREWS AIRED IT OUT AND THERE WAS NOT DAMAGE.  3 TRUCKS AND 19 MEN RESPONDED TO THE CALL AND WERE AT THE SCENE TILL 5:07 THIS MORNING.  THE CAUSE IS UNDETERMINED.  THE STATE FIRE MARSHALL’S OFFICE WAS CALLED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE, ACCORDING TO NORTON FIRE CHIEF MITCH JONES.  THE NORTON POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS ALSO ON HAND TO HELP WITH THE LIGHT TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME OF THE MORNING.
