Library Anniversary

ON JULY 19, 1992 THE DREAM OF MANY PEOPLE WAS REALIZED WHEN THE NEW NORTON PUBLIC LIBRARY AND NORTHWEST KANSAS LIBRARY SYSTEM AT 1 WASHINGTON SQUARE WERE DEDICATED. TODAY, TWENTY YEARS LATER IT IS STILL A FACILITY FOR THE COMMUNITY TO BE PROUD OF. THE NORTON PUBLIC LIBRARY & NWKLS WILL HAVE A SPECIAL CELEBRATION ON THURSDAY TO THANK THE PEOPLE OF THE AREA FOR THEIR WONDERFUL SUPPORT AND USE OF THE FACILITY.  AT 10:30 A.M. IN THE LIBRARY COMMUNITY ROOM, ROLLING HILLS WILDLIFE ADVENTURE WILL PRESENT A PROGRAM ON NOCTURNAL ANIMALS. THIS WILL BE A SPECIAL STORY TIME FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES AND ADULTS TOO.  AT 5:00 P.M. IN THE LIBRARY LOUNGE AREA,  LEMUEL SHEPPARD FROM PITTSBURG, KS WILL PRESENT A CONCERT OF CIVIL WAR ERA SONGS. CAKE & ICE CREAM WILL BE SERVED AFTER THE CONCERT.  NWKLS, FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY, AND THE GENEALOGY SOCIETY, WILL HAVE INFORMATIONAL TABLES SET UP. TOURS OF NORTHWEST KANSAS LIBRARY SYSTEM, THE NORTON PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE GENEALOGY ROOM WILL BE AVAILABLE. LOCAL AUTHORS, MAIA CARLSON, WARD FOLEY, RANDA VOLLERTSEN,  SHELLEY  HARSHBARGER AND JACK WOODYARD  WILL ALSO BE ON HAND TO PRESENT THEIR BOOKS AND TALK TO THE GUESTS ONE ON ONE.
