ROUTINE SURVEILLANCE OF AVIAN INFLUENZA AS WELL AS MONITORING FOR PULLORUM FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASES OF POULTRY WILL BE REQUIRED FOR CHICKENS AND WATERFOWL EXHIBITED AT THE NORTON COUNTY FAIR. TESTING OF THE BIRDS WILL BE DONE TOMORROW (TODAY) FROM 10:30 AM TO NOON AT THE LIVESTOCK BARN AT THE NORTON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.  THE FAIR ASSOCIATION AND STATE HEALTH OFFICIALS URGE ALL THOSE ENTERING CHICKENS TO HAVE THE BIRDS TESTED. BIRDS OVER 4 MONTHS OF AGE ARE TO BE TESTED. TURKEYS, GAME BIRDS, GUINEAS NEED NOT BE TESTED.  CALL THE EXTENSION OFFICE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS FREE TEST AT 785-877-5755.
