Fish Care

THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HAS RECEIVED A FEW CALLS REGARDING DROUGHT CONDITIONS AS IT RELATES TO PRIVATELY OWNED PONDS AND FISH KILLS. ACCORDING TO THE KANSAS WILDLIFE AND PARKS, REMOVE THE DEAD FISH FROM THE SHORE LINE AND/OR WATER AND SPREAD THEM OUT IN THE PASTURE. THE FISH WILL DRY UP SOONER THUS TAKING AWAY THE FOUL ODOR. KANSAS WILDLIFE & PARKS ALSO ADVISES THAT IF A LANDOWNER WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE POND TO CONTACT THEIR LOCAL REGIONAL OFFICE OR THE CENTRAL OFFICE IN TOPEKA.
