Semi Accident

A HOXIE WOMAN WAS INJURED IN A TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT YESTERDAY IN SHERIDAN COUNTY.  A 1981 PETERBUILT TRACTOR TRAILER, DRIVEN BY RONALD SMITH OF KANSAS CITY MISSOURI WAS SOUTHBOUND ON K-23 HIGHWAY BEHIND A 2007 CHRYSLER SEBRING, DRIVEN BY SHAYLA NIERMEIER OF HOXIE.  NIERMEIER MERGED TO THE RIGHT OF THE ROADWAY AND PROCEEDED TO MAKE A U-TURN IN FRONT OF THE SEMI.  IT HIT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OF THE CHRYSLER, FORCING IT OFF THE EAST SIDE OF THE ROADWAY.  NIERMEIER WAS TAKEN TO THE SHERIDAN COUNTY HEALTH COMPLEX IN HOXIE.  THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 12:38 YESTERDAY  AFTERNOON AT THE INTERSECTION OF K-23 HIGHWAY AND VALLEY STREET IN HOXIE, ACCORDING TO THE REPORT FROM THE KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL.  BOTH DRIVERS WERE WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS.
