BEGINNING TOMORROW (TODAY), A JOB TO REPAVE A PORTION OF U.S. 283 IN NORTON COUNTY IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN. THE PROJECT BEGINS AT THE K-9 JUNCTION AND CONTINUES NORTH ON U.S. 283 TO THE U.S. 36 JUNCTION. THE SCOPE INCLUDES PLACING AN ULTRA-THIN BONDED ASPHALT SURFACING ALONG THE 14.7 MILES OF THE ROADWAY. KDOT AWARDED THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT – TOTALING $1,192,532 – TO VENTURE CORPORATION, OF GREAT BEND. ┬áTHIS HIGHWAY PROJECT IS FUNDED BY T-WORKS, THE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM PASSED BY THE KANSAS LEGISLATURE IN MAY OF 2010; AND DESIGNED TO CREATE JOBS, PRESERVE HIGHWAY INFRASTRUCTURE, AND SPUR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE. WEATHER PERMITTING, WORK SHOULD BE COMPLETE BY MID SEPTEMBER.
