Schmidt to Committee

SENATOR ALLEN C. SCHMIDT, OF HAYS, WAS APPOINTED TO THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INSURANCE SPECIAL COMMITTEE BY SENATE MINORITY LEADER ANTHONY HENSLEY.  AS A MEMBER OF THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INSURANCE, SENATOR SCHMIDT WILL HELP DEVELOP POLICIES TO BE INTRODUCED NEXT LEGISLATIVE SESSION.  THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INSURANCE SPECIAL COMMITTEE WILL REVIEW THE IMPACT OF NEW REGULATIONS ON THE STATE GENERAL FUND, STUDY THE MODERNIZATION OF LAWS GOVERNING INSURANCE HOLDING COMPANIES, AND LOOK FOR WAYS TO STREAMLINE STATE REGULATIONS.  IN ADDITION, SENATOR SCHMIDT WILL SERVE ON THE ADMINISTRATIVE RULES AND REGULATIONS INTERIM COMMITTEE, WHICH WILL MEET FOR FIVE DAYS THIS FALL TO REVIEW RULES AND REGULATIONS SUBMITTED BY STATE AGENCIES.  SENATOR SCHMIDT SERVES AS RANKING MINORITY ON THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND INSURANCE COMMITTEE AND AS A MEMBER OF THE SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE, THE SENATE AGRICULTURE COMMITTEE, THE SENATE NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE, THE JOINT COMMITTEE ON KANSAS SECURITY, AND THE KANCARE ADVISORY COUNCIL.
