A NEBRASKA WOMAN WAS SENTENCED FOR A FELONY THEFT CHARGE FROM NORTON COUNTY DISTRICT COURT.  SAMANTHA NELSON OF HASTINGS WAS CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT OF FELONY THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE.  THAT CHARGE WAS IN CONNECTION WITH AN ALLEGED DECEMBER 30TH 2011 INCIDENT.  SHE PLED GUILTY AND WAS SENTENCED TO 12 MONTHS WITH THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.  THAT TERM WILL BE SERVED CONCURRENTLY WITH HER SENTENCE FROM NEBRASKA.  SHE WAS GIVEN 20 PER CENT GOOD TIME CREDIT.  NO FINES WERE ASSESSED.  SHE WILL BE ON UNSUPERVISED PROBATION FOR HER KANSAS CASE WHILE IN JAIL IN NEBRASKA, ACCORDING TO NORTON COUNTY ATTORNEY DOUG SEBELIUS.  NELSON WILL BE REQUIRED TO REPORT BACK TO NORTON COUNTY ONCE HER SENTENCE IN NEBRASKA IS DONE, TO FINISH HER TERM IN KANSAS.  NELSON WAS ASSESSED COURT COSTS OF 195, A BIDS APPLICATION FEE OF 100 AND RESTITUTION TO THE VICTIM FOR 100 DOLLARS, ACCORDING TO SEBELIUS.  NELSON WAS GIVEN CREDIT FOR 47 DAYS IN THE NORTON COUNTY JAIL.
