THE DANE G. HANSEN FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE SCHOLARSHIP STIPENDS FOR THE 2012-2013 ACADEMIC YEAR. FOUR OF THE FIVE SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES WILL INCREASE BY $1000 AND THE LEADER OF TOMORROW WILL INCREASE BY $1500. THE DANE G. HANSEN FOUNDATION WILL MAKE 280 SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE IN FIVE CATEGORIES TO STUDENTS IN 26 NORTHWEST KANSAS COUNTIES FOR THE 2012-2013 ACADEMIC YEAR. STUDENTS FROM AN ACCREDITED HIGH SCHOOL, REGISTERED INDEPENDENT, PRIVATE OR HOME SCHOOL IN NORTON, PHILLIPS, DECATUR, GRAHAM, SHERIDAN AND 21 OTHER COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST KANSAS ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL GRADUATE IN THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR ARE: TEN LEADERS OF TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIPS WITH ANNUAL STIPENDS WILL INCREASE FROM $5000.00 TO $6500.00. FIFTY HANSEN SCHOLAR SCHOLARSHIPS WITH INCREASE STIPENDS FROM THREE TO FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. ONE HUNDRED HANSEN STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS WITH INCREASE STIPENDS FROM TWO TO THREE THOUSAND. TO QUALIFY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS, A STUDENT MUST HAVE TAKEN THE ACT TEST AND HAVE A COMPOSITE SCORE OF 21 OR HIGHER AND HAVE AT LEAST A 3.50 GPA. THE STUDENT SHOULD BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN EXTRACURRICULAR SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES, DISPLAY GOOD CITIZENSHIP, LEADERSHIP, AND MORAL INTEGRITY. STUDENTS PLANNING TO ENTER THE COMPETITION FOR LEADERS OF TOMORROW, HANSEN SCHOLAR OR HANSEN STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS MUST REGISTER AT THEIR SCHOOL AND TAKE THE QUALIFYING TEST . INFORMATION ON ALL SCHOLARSHIPS HAS BEEN SENT TO QUALIFYING AREA SCHOOLS.
