THE RESIGNATION OF A SUPERVISOR AND THE INTRODUCTION TO NEW EMPLOYEES WERE ITEMS FOR THE NORTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AT THEIR MEETING LAST MONDAY.  SOLID WASTE SUPERVISOR CURT ARCHIBALD GAVE HIS RESIGNATION TO THE COMMISSIONERS EFFECTIVELY LAST MONDAY.  KIRK FOLEY WILL ASSUME THOSE DUTIES UNTIL OCTOBER FOURTH.  THE COMMISSION ALSO MET WITH KEITH VAN SKIKE FROM THE TWIN CREEKS EXTENSION DISTRICT.  HE INTRODUCED JULIANNE SHOUP TO THE COMMISSION AS THE NEW EXTENSION AGENT WITH FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES AND ALSO PATSY MADDY WHO WILL BE THE NEWEST EMPLOYEE AS THE 4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AGENT.  ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR SCOTT SPROUL REPORTED THE LEASE CONTRACT FOR THE CCC NURSING BUILDING HAS BEEN APPROVED BY ALL PARTIES AND SHOULD BE READY FOR THE COMMISSION SIGNATURE SOON.  HE ALSO REPORTED ON THE NEW WARNING/ALERT SYSTEMS IN LENORA AND EDMOND.  WHEN THOSE ARE INSTALLED, THE USED SYSTEM FROM LENORA WILL BE INSTALLED AT SEBELIUS LAKE.  THEY ALSO ADDRESSED THE ROAD SURFACING TO THE AG VALLEY PROJECT EAST OF NORTON ON COUNTY ROAD E-1 AND L.  THE COUNTY WILL NEED TO VISIT WITH JOHN MAPES FROM MAPES AND MILLER TO SEE ABOUT FINANCING THE PROJECT PRIOR TO JANUARY FIRST.  PAT POMEROY FROM THE NORTON COUNTY EMS INTRODUCED A COUPLE OF CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITIONS AT THE EMS.  THEY ARE INTERESTED IN MOVING TO THE NORTON FACILITY TO FILL VACANCIES.  REGISTER OF DEEDS WANDA VINCENT REPORTED ON THE CHANGES THAT ARE BEING PROPOSED ON MORTGAGE REGISTRATION FEES.  THE CHANGES AND RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE KANSAS LEGISLATIVE PLATFORM AND THE KAC ORGANIZATION.  THE COMMISSION APPROVED THE RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE FORECLOSURE OF TAX LIENS AND THE SALE OF REAL PROPERTY TO ASSIST THE COLLECTION OF DELINQUENT TAXES.  COUNTY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS COORDINATOR JUSTINA SMITH DISCUSSED A GRANT APPLICATION BEING WORKED FOR RADIOS THAT COULD BE IN HOUSEHOLDS FOR WEATHER NOTIFICATIONS.  THE RADIOS WOULD BE LIMITED TO ONE PER HOUSEHOLD.  THERE HAS NOT BEEN A LOT OF INTEREST, BUT IT SHOULD BE PUBLISHED AGAIN.  THE COMMISSION MET WITH NOXIOUS WEED SUPERVISOR REGGIE BECKMAN TO INFORM HIM THAT HIS DEPARTMENT STAFF WILL NEED TO FILL IN AT THE LANDFILL FOR A FEW WEEKS.  THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS, THE COMMISSIONERS ADJOURNED LAST MONDAY.  THESE MINUTES ARE NOT OFFICIAL UNTIL SIGNED AND APPROVED BY THE NORTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AT THEIR NEXT REGULAR MEETING TODAY.  ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
