Survey Work

STARTING JANUARY 2, AND CONTINUING FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS, A SURVEY TEAM FROM THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION WILL BEGIN SURVEYING ALONG K-23 HIGHWAY IN SHERIDAN COUNTY. THE SURVEY WORK WILL TAKE PLACE ALONG THE CORRIDOR BEGINNING AT HOXIE AND EXTENDING NORTH 18 MILES TO THE U.S. 83 JUNCTION. THE SURVEY IS NECESSARY FOR THE DETAILED DESIGN OF THE PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT (PRACTICAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT) AND GUARD FENCE IMPROVEMENTS ALONG THE CORRIDOR. CONSTRUCTION WILL BEGIN SOMETIME IN 2014.  SURVEY ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE THE USE OF SURVEY INSTRUMENTS ON THE GROUND TO DETERMINE LOCATIONS OF FEATURES WITHIN THE SURVEY CORRIDOR. WHEN IT BECOMES NECESSARY FOR CREW MEMBERS TO ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY, THEY WILL FIRST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM THE LANDOWNER OR TENANT. DOUG ROEDER, PARTY CHIEF WITH THE FIRM WILSON & COMPANY, OF SALINA, WILL BE IN CHARGE OF THIS SURVEY FOR KDOT.
