Blood Drives

ABOUT EVERY TWO SECONDS, A PATIENT IN THE U.S. NEEDS BLOOD. TO BE PREPARED TO RESPOND TO PATIENT NEEDS AND EMERGENCIES ON A DAILY BASIS, THE AMERICAN RED CROSS RELIES ON THE GENEROSITY AND DEDICATION OF ITS BLOOD DONORS. WITH BLOOD DRIVES SCHEDULED NEARLY EVERY DAY, THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ELIGIBLE DONORS TO HELP SAVE LIVES ARE PLENTIFUL. ONLY THROUGH THEIR REGULAR SUPPORT CAN THE RED CROSS ENSURE ALL PATIENTS HAVE THE BLOOD THEY NEED, NO MATTER WHEN OR WHERE. EVERY DAY, AROUND 44,000 PINTS OF BLOOD ARE NEEDED IN HOSPITALS TO HELP TREAT TRAUMA VICTIMS, SURGERY PATIENTS, ORGAN TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS, PREMATURE BABIES, CANCER PATIENTS AND MORE. ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED TO ENSURE A RELIABLE SUPPLY FOR PATIENTS. A BLOOD DONOR CARD OR DRIVER’S LICENSE OR TWO OTHER FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION ARE REQUIRED AT CHECK-IN. INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE 17 YEARS OF AGE (16 WITH PARENTAL CONSENT IN SOME STATES), WEIGH AT LEAST 110 POUNDS AND ARE IN GENERALLY GOOD HEALTH MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO DONATE BLOOD. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND OTHER DONORS 18 YEARS OF AGE AND YOUNGER ALSO HAVE TO MEET CERTAIN HEIGHT AND WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS. THE NEXT RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES IN THE NORTON AREA WILL BE IN HOXIE AT THE 4-H BUILDING FEBRUARY 5TH FROM NOON TILL FIVE, IN HILL CITY AT THE HIGH SCHOOL ON THE 6TH FROM 8:30 TILL 2:30 AND THEN IN NORTON AT THE 4-H BUILDING FROM NOON TILL SIX ON FEBRUARY 19TH. NORTON’S GOAL IS 95 PINTS OF BLOOD.
