Hansen Awards

THE DANE G. HANSEN FOUNDATION OF LOGAN HAS NAMED 260 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS FROM 59 NORTHWEST KANSAS COUNTIES AS WINNERS IN ITS 38TH ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION.  12 SCHOLARSHIPS HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO KANSAS COMMUNITY OR TECHNICAL COLLEGE TRANSFER STUDENTS WHO ARE PLANNING TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION AT A KANSAS FOUR YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY.  IN SELECTING AWARD WINNERS, THE COMMITTEE CONSIDERED PROFICIENCY IN VERBAL AND WRITING SKILLS.  OTHER IMPORTANT FACTORS WERE ACADEMIC RECORDS, TEST SCORES AND COMMUNITY SERVICE.  TEN STUDENTS HAVE WON HANSEN LEADER OF TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIPS, INCLUDING ZACH MAY OF OBERLIN.  THESE AWARDS ARE FOR 65 HUNDRED DOLLARS AND MAY BE RENEWABLE FOR THREE ADDITIONAL YEARS, BASED UPON CONTINUED REGARD FOR THE PRINCIPLES, A 3.00 OR BETTER G.P.A. AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL AND A LETTER DESCRIBING PROGRESS TOWARDS EDUCATIONAL GOALS.
