Human Trafficking Bill Signed into Law

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed into law today the state’s first ever comprehensive anti-human trafficking law. The emphasis of the new law is to protect children from commercial sexual exploitation.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt helped craft the new law. He called it,

“… a great stride in the fight against modern-day slavery.”

Governor Brownback said, “This will not only strengthen our ability to severely punish traffickers, it will give us valuable new tools to protect vulnerable young victims so they can have a hope of a new life and break a cycle of exploitation.
