Suspect Shot Dead In Oberlin Police Incident

During the evening of Monday, March 10, 2014, the Oberlin Police Department responded to a call of possible criminal activity in their city. During the course of the investigation, a suspect ran from the Oberlin Police and the Kansas Highway Patrol who were assisting. Shots were fired at the officers in the 700 block of East Commercial Street in Oberlin by the suspect that fled from the officers. Gunfire was returned by law enforcement resulting in the death of the alleged offender.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Oberlin Police Department, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
